This lovely little demitasse cup & saucer set has a red, green, blue & yellow transferware design of game birds and roses which is trimmed in gold. The pattern continues to the inside of the cup. This is a quality piece. The cup measures approx. 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" across top and the saucer is approx. 5" across. There is a small glaze flake on the rim of the saucer which measures approx. 1 1/6" across.
I'm not sure which company made this set but it has the PV Made in France mark which denotes Peasant Village an imported porcelain line. Peasant Village was a subsidary of Mittledorfer Strauss of New York and was in operation beginning in 1928 and continuing through the 1960's. They put their PV logo on items which were made in France, Italy and even the US. The above information came from the book Italian Pottery Marks from Cantagalli to Fornasetti and other Italian pottery guides by Walter Del Pellegrino. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for looking!!
