This wonderful vintage cookie jar features a portly monk or friar in his long dark brown robes with the words "Thou shalt not get fat!" written on the bottom front. The monk's face and hands have a high gloss finish, while his robes have a matte finish.

Dimensions: The cookie jar measures 10 1/2" high with lid.

Marks/Dates: Foil label on the bottom, "TILSO - Made In Japan." Tilso was a New York based company that imported ceramics and collectibles from Japan from the 1940's until they closed in 1976.

Condition: No chips, cracks or other damage.
